  18. We are finding the following situations in various HTML sources in the
  19. web (mostly as a result of automatically generated HTML, e.g. man
  20. pages), and, to put it mildly, it is confusing our browser and
  21. ourselves....

  23. ... so quasi-authoritative answers (and corresponding cooperation from
  24. HTML providers) to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

  26. o What is the significance, if any, of <p>'s within a <pre> section?

  28. o What is the significance, if any, of more than one <p> in a row,
  29.   particularly on the same line?  And, how about the same situation in
  30.   a <pre> section?

  32. o Is '<' ('<' without the semicolon) a valid construct?

  34. o Can raw <'s and >'s be in a <pre> section?
